Vintage Transitional Blankets
Transitional Blankets began as the Navajo wove blankets to trade with other Native Americans and later traded with the Spanish and Americans. At the Trading Posts, traders observed that visitors coming to the "Wild West" wanted rugs more than blankets, so they encouraged the Navajo weavers to transition to rugs. Hence the phrase " Transitional Blankets".
